November 4, 2006and so i turn 34... posted at 07:06 AM under trivia and know-hows... As of today, 4th November 2006, I am officially 34 years of age... Looking back at some old childhood photos, I couldn't help but wonder how I ever grew up from a terribly timid boy into what I am today... Of course, being a Scorpio as well as a Water Rat, I am still very much the same, but I am more sociable and open hearted and willing to take on more adventures and risks... That said, I have my quiet hermit moments too, where I will disappear for a while to find myself within. And birthdays are such moments for me... So pardon me if I am unavailable for any parties or gatherings today. I'm taking some time off to visit my beloved parents at their temple altars, thank them for bringing me into this current life, and ask for some blessings at the same time. Will be right back... And of course, thank you all in advance for your generous well wishes, blessings, greetings, and gifts... HUGS!!! Since I mentioned my childhood photos, I have decided to post some of them here, kind of serving as a visual reminder for myself too... Just don't laugh ok?

tagging 20 random facts... posted at 01:45 AM under snapshots of merman..., trivia and know-hows...
Oops, Constanthing of IllustrationFriday.com just tagged me and so here're my 20 random facts for whoever cares to know...
I've never been tagged before, so I am just rambling out what comes to mind, and not really sure what next... Since it took me only five minutes (without counting spell checks), I shall tag another five persons (running out of *untagged* folks that I would love to know 20 random facts about though)... Anyway, I tag the following fellow illustrators: Wynlen, Loobylu, Binny, Sketchdump and Shyue Chou... Have fun! [ Feeling... * sleepy * ] |

herbal brew for beautiful voice... posted at 01:58 PM under trivia and know-hows... While on the topic of singing, I often had incidences where I
lost my voice prior to recording, mostly due to stress and lack of
discipline in my diet... During the 1999 production of "Chang & Eng - The Musical", I was to replace Robin
as "Eng" in that season's extended run, for a month. After a week of intensive understudying
and singing at his key, as well as performing in my own ensemble
roles, I finally lost my voice, just before my very first appearance as
"Eng"!! I wasn't the only one suffering this condition, a few of the cast members also had overworked their vocals. So the director, Ekachai, drove me to this Man Foong Loong Medical Hall at the block of flats next to Kreta Ayer Market...
The uncle at the shop asked me what's wrong, and as I rattled out my list of ailments, he proceeded to pour and mix some herbal brews from various clay pots on a shelf into a bowl and made me drink it all in one go... It tasted worse than vomit... But since I am a sucker for Chinese herbal brews (I have loved the bitterness of the herbs ever since I was a kid), I was able to finish the entire bowl without having to take the preserved plums offered to change the taste... I bought a bottle of the same brew to take away, which cost S$10. It had better work... And sure it did! By showtime, I had my voice back to its original condition and was able to perform in my very first leading role on stage! And the rest is history...
So now, everytime someone needs a health boost or is not feeling well, or loses his/her voice (as Siying did during the recording for "Yum Sing!" ), I'll recommend this shop... But first, you must be
able to stomach the "vomit"-tasting brew for it to work... [ Feeling... * impressed * ] |

design for living - trivia of the day... posted at 12:22 PM under trivia and know-hows... "Imagine that... Agatha Christie claimed to have plotted most of her mysteries... in a bathtub (while eating apples)..." "In a survey, it was found that 29% of women and 11% of men prefer reading in bed to sex..." And that was probably before "HP&THBP" was released. Go figure! LOL [ Feeling... * trivial... * ] [ Watching... * Design For Living * ] |
