day 1 at lang tengah... posted at 01:36 PM Finally, after almost ten hours (which seemed an eternity) on the Malaysian coastal roads, Tim, Dan, Jason and I arrived at the little town of Kuala Terengganu...
And spent the next hour or so waiting for sunrise and the appointed mini-bus from our resort to fetch us to the jetty...
At the jetty, it was another few hours of waiting for the ferry to take us to the low-profile island called Pulau Lang Tengah, situated in between two relatively more popular islands, Redang and Perhentian...
By the time we arrived at Square Point Resort, it was almost noon, and all of us were famished and in need of a refreshing shower... We were greeted by a chirpy host, Bai, who gave us a briefing on what's in store for us for the next couple of days...
After we checked into our rooms and got our showers and things unpacked, I wasted no time and was out and about with my trusty old (and ailing) digital camera...
A quick survey and walk around the resort soon revealed its beauty: a simple and rustic setting with basic but comfortable amenities, allowing guests the chance to truly let go of urban concerns and just chill...
After a delicious lunch, we visited the nearby Blue Coral Resort which was more expensive but boasted of a better beach and corals...
Then Tim and Dan took a walk on the beach while Jason and I decided to take the free boat tour around Pulau Lang Tengah, and do some snorkelling among the wonderful corals and reef fishes.
I have never swam so much in the sea for a long while, but it all paid off when I got to be so close to a sea turtle, squids, and even a metre-long black-tipped shark among other colourful creatures of the sea... I am so at home in the amazing underwater world, and felt like a true blue Merman indeed... LOL After the snorkelling tour, Jason and I returned to the resort to meet the guys for tea break, then it's back to our rooms to catch forty winks... Dinner was a sumptious seafood affair and the cool sea breeze and sand around us really made it a great experience... Right after this satisfying meal, the four of us took another walk along the beach, now in the dark. Tim and Dan brought their tiny but powerful torches, which allowed us to catch glimpses of the tiny coastal wildlife scavenging for food... Here are some of the many creatures that Daniel found...
After seemingly hours of slow walks around the coast of the resort, we were all ready to shut ourselves down and go sleep, but not before noticing a gigantic skinny spider (dunno what species), literally hanging out in our room...
