Entries for March, 2005
March 5, 2005* white shoes, casting, lemony snicket, and new friends... posted at 02:06 AM I spent the lunch hour rehearsing for "XYZ Files" at Dramaplus Arts, followed by a casting and imaging session for a National Kidney Foundation TV Trailer at FilmAt36 Productions... To look appropriate for the imaging, I searched around at Tekka Market for a suitable and cheap pair of shoes, and ended up with a brilliant white pair of school shoes... at least these matched my white attire... ![]() Took a quick shower at Cali RP Gym to refresh myself... After that, I rushed over to meet Katrina and Bryan at Suntec City's Eng Wah Cinema to watch "Lemony Snicket - A Series of Unfortunate Events"... Jim Carrey was an irritating nuisance in the movie, but the 3 kids were wonderful to watch... After the movie, Bryan, Kat and I had coffee and desserts at the Crossroads Cafe at the basement of the mall, then Bryan got to leave to meet a friend, while Kat and I walked back to City Hall MRT... I took a bus over to The Regalia to have dinner with Nicholas while his Taiwanese guest, Taten, joined us later... Together, we headed to Tanjong Pagar and waited for more friends to join us at Taboo... I hopped over to Mox for a while to meet Bryan, Jonathon and other friends including Celine and her pals, and also bumped into the Asian Aussie Jason there... Around midnight, I went back over to Taboo to find a large group of Nick's friends, including Marcus, Jeff, Kris and Damen etc, waiting for me... Nick showed me an important letter of his, but I only finished half of it before the party mood kicked in and we painted the town red... or at least the dance floor... Jason and his entourage dropped by later, followed by yet another Jason, this time from Fujian, China... Then Shao came over somewhere around closing time, and the whole group moved on to another club called Rave at Circular Road... I finished reading the remaining half of Nick's letter over there, and somehow that made me want to party even more... With the steady beats of the really dance-motivated music, everyone hit the dance floors on an increasing high... Some of us decided to camp over at The Regalia as it was almost dawn when we left... It was truly an eye-opening night to remember... [ Feeling... * ecstatic... * ] [ Watching... * Lemony Snickets-A Series of Unfortunate Events * ] comments

* taten's birthday celebrations... posted at 02:09 AM Had rehearsal for "Pulau" in the afternoon... Met Nicholas, Taten, Kris, Damen, Marcus, Jeff, and some others whose names I had forgotten, at Beng Hiang Restaurant at Amoy Street for a delicious dinner celebration of Taten's 27th birthday which falls on 28 Feb... After dinner, we strolled over to the clubs at Tanjong Pagar, and settled at Happy where we enjoyed rounds of alcohol and finger-guessing games... Taten got his first tastes of "Flaming Lamborghini" and "Waterfall", two extravagant cocktails that I had yet to try... With the high of various alcohol in our systems, we danced the night away and it went pretty wild indeed... I vaguely remembered losing my shirt and being kissed all over by people here and there, but couldn't recall who were these blessed souls... [ Feeling... * high... * ] |

design quotes, first class at beatty, more reh... posted at 02:14 AM This morning's rehearsal for "XYZ Files" was cancelled for some reason, which wasn't a bad thing for me as I really needed more rest... I arranged to meet Roland outside Beatty Sec Sch to pass him the CD of the flyer designs of "Pulau" for printing, and received a quote of: [ S$750 for [ 2000 copies of [ Double-sided printing on [ 100gm non-wood paper with [ Front 4 C ; Back 1 C (B&W)... When Roland had gone, I continued into Beatty Sec Sch to meet Gerard, Ernest, Renee. Yan and Celine for a Les Thespians briefing... Then Renee and Gerard left the four of us to handle four different classes of secondary two students... We did some simple introduction games, physical warm-up stretches and then I dove right into some theatre topics... I was really exhausted after shouting at and controlling those teenagers for two full hours... After class, I barely had time to travel to The Substation before the next reh for "Adultery" with the full cast... Can you just imagine how tired I was at the end of this crazy day? reh, class, reh, and more reh... posted at 02:16 AM Had "XYZ Files" reh at Dramaplus Arts with Paul... Surprised to see Ah Law there too, probably for his own school show projects... Enjoyed delicious, filling and cheap vegetarian lunch with Rodney at the Tekka Food Centre... Took the North-East Line, MRT as well as LRT trains, followed by a transit via taxi to Zhenghua Sec Sch for the drama enrichment class... Some of the kids had their rebellious attitudes worn snugly around them like a jacket, but taking no nonsense from them whatsoever, I managed to get their attention for the half hour and understand the lesson... After class, I went off with Ting, Celine and Marie and after Ting took some awful-ly hideously pouty-lipped pics with my new mobilephone, left while the rest of us travelled all the way back to town... After finding a good spot at the Burger King outlet at Raffles City, Judy joined me for a few readings of our "Pulau" script, and attempting to memorise the lines accurately... After Judy left to join her partner who wasn't feeling well, I went off to The Substation to reh for "Adultery"... Only there wasn't room to reh there after all... Lionel took us all over to the Subway outlet at Shaw Towers to suggest some physical blockings on paper, then when all had arrived, we adjouned to another reh space at Liang Seah Street where we practiced a few scenes with blockings and had the session video-recorded... I was pretty spent by the end of the reh but managed to make my way slowly back home... [ Feeling... * spent... * ] |

drama, anger, romance, violence, food... posted at 02:22 AM Had "XYZ Files" reh at Dramaplus Arts again in the morning, and got most of my lines memorised... Bumped into Ah Law again in the middle of reh and wanted to ask him to join me for lunch but he'd already left... Ate delicious "Hainan Chicken Rice" near Selegie Road... Took a refreshing shower at Cali Orchard Gym, and bumped into Tony from the States... Had "Prosperity Rice Salad" and coffee at Spinelli's at The Heeren while waiting for Kenji... Argued over phone with Adrian over printing budget of flyers for "Pulau"... Phone battery went flat, charged it at Singtel shop... First date with Kenji at Spinelli's... Watched "Hitch" with Kenji, and found it a nice humourous and romantic show... Will Smith was a lot of fun to watch, and he sure dispensed plenty of love wisdom throughout the movie... Meanwhile, I noticed lots of loving and caressing all around me... Ultimately, it is up to us to take love matters in our own hands and be confident with our own personalities and traits, before others will be attracted to us... Took cab over to Siglap South CC for "Pulau" reh and full run, attended by Production Manager Keng Kiat, Sound Designer Joanna, and Publicity Personnel Yu Neng... Accidentally slapped Judy across the face... Judy lent me her "Desperate Housewives" CDs... When home, had a chat with Kenji then went down to buy supper... Discovered the 24 Hour coffee shop downstairs had new shops that are open till 3 or 4am everyday now... That's great news indeed for a nocturnal foodie like me... ladies or gentlemen... posted at 02:30 AM Watched "Ladies OR Gentlemen" concert performed by the dynamic duo, George Chan and Leigh McDonald at the Esplanade Recital Studio this evening, with Nicholas, most of the OmniArts Troupers, as well as a reunion of the Who's Who of local musical theatre industry... The two musical veterans gave a terrific and energetic performance, giving each other their favourite songs to sing... Among the kaleidoscope of show items were some hilarious numbers written by Leigh's friend, such as "Good", and the encore "Obsessed", which milked the audience's laughter to an orgasmic strata... All in all, everyone left highly impressed and charged up by the vibrant energy that both performers radiated... Nicholas and I went over to Tanjong Pagar area and after walking around the clubs, finally settled down at Happy for some drinks before calling it a day... ** crystals, friends over coffee and more... posted at 03:08 AM Met up with Bryan at Chinatown Point to pass him some sticker labels for his Omhealth business, and accompany him to acquire some crystals and aromatherapy products for an upcoming workshop... I bought a nice "Phantom Quartz" bracelet as well as a "dZi bead" for myself... We had a nice chat over lunch at the basement food court, and in our usual psychic fashion, discovered we were both down to our very last cents after the meal... After that, Bryan left for another appointment while I made my way over to Raffles City where out of the blue, I bumped into KC and his two other Thai friends, all whom I was supposed to contact today anyway... Kenji arrived soon after I ate once again at a nearby hotel, and we had some drinks over the next couple of hours... it was so warm that by the time we're ready to leave, we were sweating buckets... Later, we went over to Heeren's Spinelli's to meet Kenji's 3 other friends, while I bumped into Hatta and Darius among their friends... Kenji wanted to get some jeans and bermudas, so we headed over to the Samuel & Kevin outlet at Lucky Plaza where they were having a storewide clearance sale... Alas, they don't have my size... ![]() On the way, I noticed my sister's ex-husband Steven holding the hand of a long-haired woman among the crowd, and I was sure he pretended not to see me... Once Kenji made his purchases, I went on over to Kinokuniya and did some book shopping there on my own, then later Daniel came over to drive me to Holland V's Central Restaurant for dinner... We visited some of the pet shops there too, with our own sets of dwarf hamsters in mind... After that, we had a drink and desserts at a nearby Coffee Bean outlet... Then Daniel took me to visit his hamsters and their now grown offsprings as well as watch some cartoons over cable, as well as some stuff for adults... ![]() After typing all these down, I now need to clear up my brain's memory space for allow for more of my scripts to be stored inside... That's the price that comes uninvited with age... Sighz... [ Feeling... * full... * ] |

i am back... posted at 01:33 AM Finally, I am ready to resume writing on this journal, although it might take a while to recap what I have done these past few crazy weeks... Anyway, during this extremely trying period that I have been missing on Tabulas, I have rehearsed and performed in the Mandarin play "Pulau", the English play "Adultery", as well as two separate school assembly shows, "15 Mins of Fame" by D'rama Arts and "The Return of the XYZ Files" by Dramaplus Arts... Thankfully, both plays received good reviews, although there were comments about my unconvincing spew of vulgarities in one scene in "Pulau" (dunno why, but "Cheebye" somehow doesn't quite roll off my tongue easily =P)... I personally feel that I could have done a much better job on all these shows if I hadn't had to juggle them all at the same period of them. I felt really stretched till I was physically and emotionally paper-thin, not to mention all that unnecessary stress from schedule clashes... I am rather proud of the fact that I actually managed to memorise and internalise all these different lengthy scripts and monologues, and was able to give credible performances, all amidst the drama enrichment classes that I have been conducting and the poster designs etc... It was a lot of hard work, and my struggling attempts to balance my social life didn't make things easier... Even though I was quite ready to commence on a steady relationship, trying out potential dates and suitors, somehow during those crazy weeks I found myself stalling for time and pushing aside any commitments... If anything, I have become even more adventurous, playful to the point
of decadence, and peeling myself apart to be exposed to the elements... But do I really know what I want in my life? Have I defined my ideal type of partner? Will I make a stable and sterady boyfriend? Decisions, decisions, decisions... Now that my two major plays are over, I am currently going out on dates again, this time hoping things will get real and serious and for good... I just hope that I won't hurt anyone in the meantime... [ Feeling... * extreme mixed feelings... * ] [ Listening to... * Guang Liang-Tong Hua * ] |
