rest and recovery...
posted at 12:44 AM

It's been a day of rest and recovery...
Probably due to my recent change in diet: early breakfast comprising of fresh milk, cheese, ham and cereals, or possibly because of yesterday's toxin release massage, my body underwent a certain degree of detoxification today...
Frequent stomach upsets and sleepiness aren't exactly highlights of my day...
On top of it all, I had so much problems with my PC... it had been such a chore typing everything down, only to have the PC crash just before the SAVE button was clicked on... this happened so many times that I almost sent my fist through the monitor...
I could hardly keep up with my regular emails and blog updates, much less complete a full report due this evening for an ASA committee meeting. I didn't attend the meeting after all, as I didn't have anything to present and my queasy stomach had yet to subside...
Still, I gotta eat...
Met up with Brian for a simple evening... he shopped for a pair of Diesel watches for himself and his partner in Perth, then we had a nice simple fish maw dinner at my favourite Rabbit Brand restaurant at Lucky Plaza...
Felt much better already by then...
We went over to the NYDC Cafe next to The Heeren to pass one of Brian's watches to his friend Adrian (who will pass it on to his friend to pass it on to another friend etc)... met Ad and Emeric there too...
After a brief walk around The Heeren, Brian and I popped over to Takashimaya's Body Shop and Kinokuniya for a while, then decided to have a bite and a drink at the Coffee Club outlet at Cali gym...
It was a nice relaxing evening just chatting and strolling around...
Back at home, Brian and I continued our chitchat, then Justin called from his camp...
I found that I can really talk a lot if I want to...
After all the chitchat, I decided to give my PC another chance...
So by now, I have already tried several times getting this entry saved in the blog...
Next up will be getting my ASA tasks in order...

retro garb and sliding doors...
posted at 12:47 AM

Brian called from the Singapore Turf Club where he was undergoing training, and sounded pretty bored especially with lots of time in his hands...
Was chatting halfway with him when I realised I have an audition in an hour's time!!
Thankfully, I made it right on the dot... but with a cab of course...
The ladies in the audition panel at SRT were Carina Hales and Tracey Howitt Pang, with whom I have worked more than 10 years ago in "Kampong Amber"!!)
Anyway, I did my stuff and left, all in the space of 10mins... and 30mins later I was back at home for lunch...
Took a little nap, then went out again on a snail-paced bus to accompany Brian back to Bras Basah to collect his watch...
Yesterday at the watch shop, I was tempted by another Diesel model (watch, not person), but I tried not to look at it this time...
Just kept telling myself: "I don't need a new watch" (x10)...
We went over to Raffles City, searched in vain for a suitable birthday card, then went over to Haagen Daz for a 3-scoop Ice-cream set...
It was a melted mess that arrived at our table, served by a sour-faced girl called "Cecilia"... how unsatisfying...
At least the seats were comfortable and company pleasant...
Took a couple of pics of us in "retro" garb with my digital camera just for fun...
Brian left to attend his school friend's birthday dinner at Millenia Walk, while I took a crowded train over to Newton Circus to meet up with Andy, AVP of a hotel chain (one of which was affected by the Tsunami)...
We had dinner at the badly vented hawker centre, then went over to his place nearby so he could change out of his office attire...
Apparently he's planning to move out of his rented apartment, and move to a walk-up unit in Tiong Bahru...
After he settled some errands, we took a stroll back to Orchard...
Once again, I found myself back at Spinelli's, drinking coffee and chatting with a friend, and wondering when will I ever get out of this state of repetition...
Anyway, it was good company despite the "Sliding Doors" similarities...
Went home a while later, and got some Dumpling Noodles as supper... which went pretty well with my Benedictine Dom...
Talked with Brian on the phone later about "Sliding Doors" too... Followed by another conversation with Chris about similar problems with relationships...
I guess Fate knows what it's doing...

neo look... neo pets... friends...
posted at 12:51 AM

Spent the wee hours of the morning redecorating my Tabulas journal template and giving it a new look with an Oceanic feel... how do you find it?
Woke up to a phone call telling me I wasn't selected for the play that I auditioned for yesterday... oh well, it's all good... when one door closes, another opens...
I am ready to receive more wonderful and exciting projects soon, that will generate more income for me too...
Brian suggested meeting for lunch, saying his work for today is done and need not return to the Turf Club...
Alas, I left my handphone at my living room table on my way out...
Arriving at Orchard Road's UOB Branch, Brian applied for his Visa Mini debit card while I tried in vain to remember my PIN Number...
We had Burger King's Mushroom Swiss Double Burger Meal at Cineleisure... it's been ages since I tasted what used to be my ultimate favourite burger...
After lunch we went over to The Heeren Shops where I tried some swimming trunks, some too skimpy and might need a rating before any public appearances, haha! Didn't get any though... still deciding whether to get one based on tan-lines or design and cut... anyway, all are so expensive...
Then we took a bus over to Millenia Walk followed by Marina Square to book tickets to watch "Ocean's Twelve", which stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon etc...
Before the movie, we popped over to library@esplanade where I borrowed some DVDs and we watched excerpts of "Forbidden City" screening there...
Back to "Ocean's Twelve"...
Despite all that subtle humour and witty talk, I must say all I remembered of the movie was that Catherine Zeta-Jones was SIZZLING HOT!!!
Hmm... all those European scenes and locations in the movie also rekindled my travel urges... will find a way to return to Europe this year or the next...
I called Bryan, who told me our original plans for a dinner date with Katrina and Siangyun will not materialise tonight...
Brian got a call from his friend who was giving out Dwarf Hamsters to keen pet owners, basically saving them from becoming snake-snack at the zoo...
Although Brian strongly advised that I give more thought before committing to it, I have decided to adopt 6 of them from Brian's friend... this will be a great chance for me to play Daddy to these little babes...
There are apparently around 20 of them cute little creatures up for grabs, but cages and feeding material are at your own expenses...
Anyone feeling responsible enough to adopt them? Please SMS me by 6th Jan morning to confirm...
We both have the same idea to have dinner over at Capitol Building's Magic Wok Restaurant, which served delicious halal Thai cuisine at reasonable rates...
After a full meal, we emerged from the restaurant feeling lethargic and stuffed to the brim...
Brian decided to head back home and skip gym, but I simply couldn't allow myself to be too complacent with my exercise plans...
Accompanying me all the way over to Raffles Place where my gym is, I showed him all my favourite restaurants and cafes along Circular Road...
Cali RP gym was pretty crowded tonight, but I managed to get an hour and a half worth of workout, so I was pretty pleased with myself...
Back home, I found my MSN Messenger to be problematic as usual, so I am still unable to communicate with friends that way...
Brian finally watched "Hong Xian (Strings)" online and told me he got goose bumps during that dream scene...
Will ask Jon (director for "Strings") for a copy of this film soon...
Will also ask Juju (director for "The Letter") for same...
Hmm... have I been neglecting my other friends lately? Perhaps I have, or perhaps everyone had already moved on with their individual lives...
I will always be around for anyone who needs a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a warm comforting hug, or hot passionate sex (kidding! LOL)...

premieres... spontaneous dates...
posted at 02:32 AM

Didn't expect today to be anything more than a day of relaxation and idleness...
After pottering about the house the entire morning and afternoon, I thought I'll grab a friend for a movie...
Arranged to meet Vincent in town but he was late due to overtime work...
In the meantime, Brian came by Wisma Atria and we bought 4x$30 tickets to watch "Aladdin" for this Sunday's matinee show...
Over a bite and coffee, Brian told me he witnessed the euthanasia of a couple of wounded horses at the Turf Club today, and he had to perform autopsy on them too...
Jon called and informed us he's got 8 free tickets to watch the premiere of a new movie "Kinsey" (subtitled: "Let's Talk About Sex")... well, well...
So after calling several friends, we shortlisted another four: Jon, Tim, Min, Vincent to join us for the film...
Then we shopped around Isetan and Brian was tempted to buy a new bag, which didn't happen in the end... moral of the story: "strike while the iron's hot" (aka "buy when Zara's final piece of that item is still available")...
Vincent came soon after and the two of us went off to Lucky Plaza for my usual dose of Rabbit Brand's Set 'J' Meal, while Brian went to meet Jon for dinner at Burger King...
After our delicious budget meal, Vincent and I shopped at CK Tang and Borders before returning to Lido to meet the rest...
Bumped into old choir friend, Abel, whose company, Durex (yes, that Durex), organised the film premiere and launch cocktail party...
So the six of us ended up mixing around the other guests until it's showtime... also saw Kiat Sing and Paerin among several other familiar faces...
"Kinsey", which starred Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Chris O'Donnell, Peter Sarsgaard and John Lithgow etc is about Professor Alfred Kinsey, who spent all his efforts in research on the sexual behaviours of the American male and female population, and went against social norms of the time to unearth and publish bedroom facts for educational purposes...
It was an interestingly humourous yet intense film, treading on tough subjects like homosexuality, pre-marital sex, extra-marital sex, masturbation etc... topics mostly frowned upon or too taboo to be spoken aloud, in public no less...
Scenes of syphillis patients, an old lady masturbating herself and then having sex with a younger man, genitalia projected on big screens in a class of conservative students, Dr Kinsey making love to his male associate who later requested sex with Kinsey's wife... are just some of the spicy moments...
Interestingly, Kinsey also created a sort of sexuality scale from 1 to 6... "1" represents being 100% heterosexual and "6" being 100% homosexual...
Guess what number on this scale I would belong to?
There was a touching cameo appearance by Lynn Redgrave, who portrayed with great sensitivity an elderly woman who fell in love with another woman, at the expense of her marriage and kids, and thanking Kinsey for reveailing in his findings that she wasn't alone in this world with these feelings...
Plenty of food for thought indeed...
That aside, throughout the show I felt somewhat awkward and confused sitting where I was, but certainly not about the movie...
After the show, we walked over to Acid Bar at Perankan Place where Vincent bought us a round of drinks...
With Min's recommendation, I tried this cocktail named "Mojito", which comprised of rum, lime juice and mint... pretty nice combination...
Had a nice chitchat and later TK popped by to join us...
About an hour later saw us taking cabs back in our various directions...
Vincent, who stayed somewhere central, dropped me off first...
It was a pretty spontaneous evening... totally unplanned yet everything worked out quite well...
Had a brief chat with Brian which ended the night on a positive note...

magic wok, class, and a few drinks...
posted at 12:50 AM

Being the greatest Singapore Idle can be rather boring at times, but thankfully my cousin Meiling comes by once in a while to join me for lunch around my place, as she did today...
Spent quite a fair amount of time on my PC again, trying to weed out some of the stubborn viruses (in vain), and also getting some of my emails in order (only managed some)...
Met up with Ting and her friend Fly, at Magic Wok Restaurant for budget Thai food... Ting was apparently inspired by my blog entry to give the joint another try...
After the meal, we went over to Raffles City for some quick shopping and then Ting and I made our way to Metta School for the first OmniArts Troupers class of the year 2005...
Ting's friend Ying Ying, who's auditioning to be a Trouper, joined us at Bedok... another potential trouper, Elizabeth, was already in class when we arrived...
It was a fun and chirpy class, with everyone rehearsing for a charity event to be staged at the Ark Lounge on the 22nd January 2005...
Roy, who wanted to audition too, didn't turn up until the class ended, which was a shame and waste of time for himself...
After class, I went over to Mox Cafe where I waited for Vincent and later Brian, Jon, Tim and Dominic to join me for a few drinks...
"A few drinks" for me turned out to be:
Long Island Tea + a cocktail (on Zaggi's tab) + 2 glasses of beer + sips of Mango Candy and Midori Lime...
Had a nice chat with Ken Low who was there too, and saw quite a few old friends and acquaintances...
Our group left Mox after finishing the abovementioned drinks, and walked over to Why Not for some dancing and a few more drinks...
"A few more drinks" turned out to be:
Rum and coke + Vodka Ribena + Vodka Lime...
I wasn't drunk but got pretty exhilarated (read: high) and dancing became a good release of energy...
Someone approached me with an invitation, but I declined the offer...
Brian told me I was dancing very wildly with the person but I was hardly aware of it, hehe...
There was something I very much wanted to express but the alcohol somehow made it seem worse and awkward, so I didn't...
But after we had supper at Maxwell Market and got on our different ways home, I found myself blabbering over smses and fell asleep before I knew it...
I hadn't drank so much or clubbed like this in ages... guess I could still manage it pretty well, even though I felt somewhat ancient compared to the younger set around me...
Hahahahahahha! *hic*

* introducing eeni and mini...
posted at 01:47 AM

Despite last night's late hours and alcohol imbibing, I woke up pretty early...
Bryan called and we had a chat and sang some silly songs together like the old days...
Couldn't get back to sleep, and didn't feel hungry anyway, so I skipped breakfast and lunch, and heading directly over to National Youth Council for an audition...
Bumped into Sunyi who was there with her co-actor Leon...
My turn was pretty simple, just gotta be like Tony Leung Chiu-Wai in "2046" and act cool... hehe...
I finished my audition an hour and a half later...
By then, Brian and Jon had already driven over to the Zoo to collect the remaining two healthy hamsters for me, and was waiting at Cineleisure...
I joined them and we drove over to a pet shop at River Valley Road, and bought some basic hamster necessities...
Bumped into RJ and Jay there, and had a quick chat with them... missed those old "Chang & Eng" days already...
Brian drove me back home before carrying on to get ready for his dinner with relatives...
I spent some time washing and cleaning the well-equiped hamster cage but decided to use a shallow plastic basin to house my neo pets while their future home dries out thoroughly...
And now for the exciting moment of introducing my two new babies...
Meet: Eeni and Mini, the two puffy female (we think) dwarf hamsters!!!!
I took some time setting up and decorating the basin with newspaper lining, wood chips, food tray with hammie snacks, water bottle and a makeshift "house" I made for them from the bottom portion of a "Chicken In A Biskit" cardboard box...
It was such great fun watching the too-cute hammie sisters cuddling with each other, nibbling non-stop at their snacks, burrowing among the wood chips, and also reacting to my curious and itchy fingers...
Once I found them dozing off to sleep, I got changed and left the house again to meet Vincent for dinner at IKEA Cafe and Restaurant...
It was a delicious and inexpensive meal, comprising of Swedish meatballs, sedap Nasi Goreng with fried chicken wings, rich chocolate mousse etc...
Feeling full to the brim and bursting at our seams, we took a lazy stroll among the aisles of the furniture store and exploring the new designs of the regular household items...
Was tempted to buy the Sanbang alarm clock that Brian talked about, the one that allows you to record your own voice (or noise) which will be played at the appointed hour... finally found it, only to find it too costly for my budget... I guess I won't lose any sleep if I don't get this alarm clock (literally too, hehe)...
Vincent and I then took a bus over to the Cali gym at Republic Plaza, chatting and trying out some cool new stuff on the long journey...
We spent the next hour or so working out individually then after a refreshing shower, walked over to the TCC Cafe at Circular Road where we had supper of Chilli Beef Soup and Tofu packets, met Vincent's friend Eric, before walking on to Tanjong Pagar to meet our own friends who were at Mox Cafe...
Introduced Vincent to Bryan, Jonathon and other friends amidst the 10 minute roadshow performance by the cast of "Spring Singing"...
Their individual vocals were good as are their looks, even though they lacked group chemistry and coordination... also, only Yu-Wen was smiling ever so sweetly...
Vincent was busy avoiding his ex, and also texting his friends who had already left the pub...
Great to see Bryan together with Yen Hua, his old school mate from QUT days...
Didn't linger for long as I wished to catch my bus home rather than rely on cabs...
Most of all, I just couldn't wait to return home to my Eeni and Mini!!!

serendipity...
posted at 01:36 AM under

I am endlessly fascinated by the antics of Eeni and Mini...
Even though they are primarily nocturnal creatures, these two lovable fur balls are pretty active in the day too...
Or perhaps they were just nervous with my gigantic face peering over their world every so often... LOL
It was around noon that I made my way to Raffles City to meet Brian for lunch...
We ate a delicious meal at Soup Spoon, and met an old school mate of mine and his wife, as well as Bryan, who was shopping there as well...
After a brief walk among the shops, Brian and I went out to collect Jon and Ron at Starbucks before heading over to Raffles Hotel's Jubilee Hall to watch the matinee performance of the W!ld Rice pantomime "Aladdin"...
It was a wild and hilarious show with ridiculously funny antics especially by Karen Tan and Jonathon Lim, with the lovebirds played by Robin Goh and Emma Yong...
The rest of the cast seemed to be having a "good" time ribbing each other while delivering the witty lines written by Selena Tan...
After the show, we lingered on to say "Hi" to friends in the cast and crew...
Brian knew one of the crew, James, who joined us for dinner back at Raffles City, while Ron went off...
After chitchat and a full dinner, Brian, Jon and I walked around the mall again, before taking a train over to Orchard area...
I took a slow walk to UAN Building at Devonshire Road, and almost missed it... saw the neon billboard for "The Avalon" outside and mistook it for a nightclub... LOL
Ken Lyen, Jack and Swee San were already there for the Musical Incubation Programme meeting, and the rest soon joined us... Kwai Sum, Desmond, Phillip, Justin, Sean, Kelvin and later Adrian...
We discussed plans for a series of new local musicals to be produced in June this year as part of the Arts Festival Fringe... besides acting, I will be contributing the illustrations and graphics for the logo and poster...
After a rather fruitful meeting and getting to know everybody and their work, Justin, Adrian and I walked over to Kiliney Road's Pho 31 Vietnamese Restaurant for supper, on Adrian's shout (was initially Justin's treat)...
To my surprise, during the meal, Adrian who is part of the theatre group, Stages, invited me to be the lead in his upcoming new Mandarin play, "Yu Wang Dao Yu" (or "Pulau")...
Oh, poor Juju lost his new handphone this morning, but all was not lost, as with everything, it's "Out with the Old and In with the New"...
The three of us shared a cab and went our individual ways...
I happily returned home to my little babies, only to hear loud squeaking noises from their makeshift basin home...
Have they been biting each other? Or maybe they're... mating! (I'm not even sure of their sex!!)
I really hope they will live harmoniously and lovingly together...

posted at 03:05 AM

Other than having lunch with my cousin, Meiling, and accompanying her to the bank, as well as having western food dinner downstairs, I stayed at home the entire day...
Basically spent the whole time getting this PC to do what PCs are supposed to do... or at least, some regular word processing and some internet surfing...
In between breaks, such as when it hanged or shutdown itself in fits of tantrum, I ate snacks and played with Eeni and Mini...
Somewhere after lunchtime, I discovered a small bloody wound in Mini's abdomen... had Eeni been attacking her?
Or perhaps, one's male and the other's female after all... and they had been mating...
How can one tell??

**** good lunch... good dinner... good laugh...
posted at 10:41 PM

Albert woke me up and asked me to come over his place for lunch where him, Vincent, Eemie and Ben were already waiting...
Ben left early to return to work, while Eemie drove Albert and I to Raffles City to grab something before Al went over to Raffles Hotel, then drove Vincent back to the North...
Calling Brian, I found that he was stuck at home from suspected food poisoning... hope he feels better now...
I walked around a bit, then decided to pop over to Citylink Mall's QB House for a quick haircut...
The hairstylist was a trainee from Hong Kong, and speaking Canonese, we agreed to try out a cut that's currently fashionable in HK... Not too bad for a $10 hair job!
Went over after that to Takashimaya for some browsing and window shopping, before meeting Vincent (Leong) for dinner at Cineleisure's food court...
Yes, ABC Chicken Soup again! Yum yum! The stall owners already remembered me and my fave order...
After dinner, we shoppped at Sembawang Music Centre where I bought David Tao's latest pre-release album and Zhang Dong Liang's re-release album...
There were a couple more nice cds I wanted to get, like Yu Tai Yan's new compilation album of her earlier hits... till my next pay day lah...
After a brief walk around HMV at The Heeren Shops, Vincent left to go workout at the gym while I went home to catch myself on Ch5's "Living With Lydia"...
It was fun and I had a good laugh at myself...
I seldom get to watch myself on TV, so I recorded my short cameo appearance using my digital camera's video function... now I'll need to learn how to upload media files to this blog...
Stay tuned...

Alamak!!!
Last night Eeni was attacking Mini in their basin home (I don't think they were mating lor...) so I quickly set up the wire cage and transfered Mini over there for safety...
I woke up this morning intending to transfer Eeni over too, but to my horror...
Eeni was gone!!!
I had surrounded the shallow basin pail with a high wall of newspaper and it is not possible of Eeni to climb out and escape...
I wonder if a mynah or sparrow had flew in the window and snatched my little baby away... :sob:
Anyway, my place is already a pigsty, it would be the ideal hiding place for a little dwarf hamster...
I hope Eeni will appear soon especially when it is hungry...
I have left some stalks of green long beans as bait in a low vase, hopefully Eeni will be enticed by it...
I am very sad and worried now, please pray for Eeni to be safe...

posted at 02:25 PM

As mentioned before, I bought David Tao's pre-release album which included, among other samples, an MTV of his new song "Ghost"...
For those who have the chance to watch this pretty cool music video with surreal ghosts and images, you will get a glimpse of what I had seen all those years ago during my secondary school's choir camp...
Watching the video just gave me goosebumps again... but I was pretty impressed...
This is the second time an interpretation of ghosts have accurately matched what I had personally encountered...
The first time was just a week after that encounter... on a Channel 8 TV series called "Qi Yuan - Dream"...
As a form of confirmation, Timothy, who is able to see such beings from the nether dimensions, and have been interviewed by the i-weekly magazine for it, told me some time ago that he had seen the same things that I did...
Anyway, as warned in the CD labels, this MTV is definitely not for the faint-hearted...

Hurray!!!
Finally worrying myself silly over the missing Eeni, I've finally found her hiding and lurking amidst my laundry pile in my bedroom...
I immediately laid a cereal box with some pieces of cheese and long beans as bait right in front of her, and sure enough, this greedy little creature walked right in...
I quickly transfered her into the wire cage where Mini has been making herself comfortable...
Not sure if this is a wise move or not, as right away, these two dwarf hamsters started chasing each other and making loud squealing noises...
Is there any hamster interpreter around here?
I need help understanding if they are in trouble or in pain... or are just having harmless fun...

posted at 09:50 PM

Ever since Father passed away, I have been thinking a lot about moving out of my 31yo flat... perhaps a change in house and feng shui will do wonders for my finance and romance luck etc...
So, after an entire afternoon of getting those two naughty little babes settled in the cage, I went out to meet Harry, who's renting out a room in his apartment in Koon Seng Road...
It's a nicely set up walk-up apartment, although I won't get the master bedroom of course...
For $400 a month sans utility bills, it seems a pretty good deal... Promised to give Harry an answer soon...
Now I just need to get my housing plans sorted out...
To stay or not to stay...
To renovate or not...
In any case, I can't simply do nothing about it...
Juju called and asked if I want to meet up with him, Ting and Wolfboy... but after my flat-viewing, it was a bit too late...
I went over to Orchard Road anyway to return the DVDs that I borrowed from the National Library...
Shopped abit and popped over to HMV to listen to some CDs...
Discovered that Minnie Driver, who played Carlotta in the "Phantom of the Opera" movie, had released a recording album called "Everything I've Got In My Pocket"... and it is actually very good!!!

I've a feeling Juju would like her song "So Well"...
Anyway, I am pretty impressed with her easy laid back style of singing, much unlike her dubbed operatic vocals in the movie...
Will have to get her album from somewhere cheaper though...

I attended an audition near Little India this afternnoon, and decided to walk around the Serangoon Road area and soak in the cultural atmosphere...
Perhaps I have a strong past-life connection with India, as I feel very much at home with the Indian community, enjoying their culture, their cuisine, their music, among many other things...
Wonder why so many people, many of them my friends, like to make racist remarks against our fellow Indians...
Had a delicious and full Nasi Bryani lunch at Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant... the Marsala Tea and Mango Lassi drinks I ordered were very satisfying too...
With a bloated stomach, I just had to walk somemore...
So I took time to explore the inner lanes of Little India, especially one that was used for a Harvest Festival (Pongal), with many colourful stalls lining both sides of the lane...
A huge feature of the festival was bales and bundles of sugarcanes...
There was even a farm display with cows, calves and goats, much to everyone's delight...
I carried on walking till I reach Raffles City, did some light shopping, then went over to Cali Orchard gym for a workout, where I had to buy a new lock as I forgot to bring one along...
After going through the rounds at the gym, Bryan called and asked me to help him get some prescription eye-drops from a clinic at Redhill...
I arrived at the clinic after some travelling but found to my dismay that Bryan needs to be present for the doctor to dispense this specific eye-drops...
So I left empty-handed and walked over to Bukit Merah Central, bought some bananas for the hamsters at the supermarket, then went home to play with them...
Alas, I found them constantly fighting and biting each other, and one even had blood stains on it!!!
My heart skipped a beat, so I had to separate them again... this time placing one of them in a big tall pail just in case...
Hope they are out of harms way now...
It's been a long but fruitful (no pun intended) day...

clearing viruses, yummy popiahs, signing & manic laughing
posted at 01:28 PM

Was supposed to meet Bryan and pass him his belated present, but it didn't happen again...
Cousin Meiling came over to join me for lunch and our usual casual chit chat...
After she went home, I spent the rest of the afternoon clearing viruses from my PC again... seemed like a neverending list of viral-infected files in my hard drives...
In between PC crashes and reboots, I played with naughty little Eeni and Mini, watching them burrowing in their separate cage and pail, feeding them as and when supply runs out...
Then my Auntie, Meiling's mum, popped by to pass me some of the huge and delicious popiahs that she just made, filled with generous portions of crabmeat, prawns, egg omelette, turnips, and veggies... YUMMY!!!
Finally, it was time to get out of the house and head over to Metta School for the OmniArts Troupers' class...
We have newcomers Elisabeth and Roy (yes, Mr Busy-With-Short-Films Ngerng) joining us for the charity event...
Accompanying our song item will be Karuman, from the Ark Lounge, on guitar...
It was rather fun learning basic American Sign Language from the expert Liting for the show, but more fun watching everyone else fumbling at it! Hahaha!
After class, some of us went over to Bedok Interchange's food centre for supper before heading home...
In between travelling times, Liting was spouting bouts out cold jokes and maniacal laughter... wonder if I will learn more of what she's thinking or will I need to decipher from her blog? Hmm...

introducing: boreDOM...
posted at 03:20 AM

Let me share with you my current favourite night drink, an alcoholic cocktail that I created out of literal boredom...
And so...
Here it is...

boreDOM...

Add....... 1 can of F&N Extra Dry Tonic Water
To......... 1 shot of Benedictine D.O.M. liqueur
Mix in.... a tall glass

Optionals: a slice of lime, a piece of orange peel, a piece of sour prune, a favourite DVD or chill-out lounge music playing in the background...

Best served chilled, this cocktail has the additional benefits of herbs and quinine, altogether a wonderful tonic for anyone feeling under the weather, having a fever, or simply feeling bored...

Enjoy...

giant hamster, sound of colors, and a happy night out...
posted at 11:47 PM

I had been reading Agatha Christie's mystery novel "Cat Among The Pigeons" and was so entranced by the twisting plots that it was past dawn when I finally read the final pages...
Met Cousin Meiling for roti-prata breakfast early in the morning, and my mouth was chewing on autopilot mode while my brains caught up...
Took a nap or two here and there, fed and transfered Eeni and Mini to and from their respective homes...
These two little Dwarf Hamsters were burrowing and piling up the wood chips into comfy beddings...
While lying in my bed surrounded by piles of magazines and cupboards full of clothes and shelves packed with dusty books, I suddenly saw myself as a Giant Hamster...
What a revelation!
But at least I am officially out of the Rat Race... or am I?
Took more naps while pondering such matters, until it was time to meet Brian...
We had a spicy dinner at Citilink Mall's Thai Express and was so full we decided to walk around The Esplanade a bit...
Since we're there, I borrowed some musical DVDs from the library@esplanade...
At 8pm, Brian and I enterd the Esplanade Theatre to watch the final performance of "Sound of Colors - Jimmy's Subway Book: A Musical Journey" based on Jimmy Liao's popular illustrated book "Subway", and starring a pitch-perfect and crystal-clear Cheer Chen Qizhen who played the blind girl...
We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves upgraded to higher-priced seats at the stalls...
It was a surreal and dreamy performance, with colourful and whimsical set designs and costumes, and beautifully poetic dialogues and songs...
However, the sound balance was pretty disappointing as many of the actors vocals were drowned by the music, but that's technical faults...
To hear the proper desired renditions of these songs, I decided to purchase the musical's original cast recording, which incidentally had the author Jimmy Liao's autograph...
And Jimmy Liao, incidentally, walked past me at the souvenir stall without me even realising that that's him, until one of the staff pointed him out to me...
Liang Wenfu and his wife Xiumei were among the audience too, not very surprising as I could imagine this production would be right up their alley in literary and creative interests...
After the show, Brian and I met up with Dennis and Wee Thye and together we had a drink at a cafe nearby...
Brian later drove Dennis to his friend's place, and then we went over to Happy to join our own sets of friends who were partying there that night...
It was indeed a Happy club with so many friends all over the place...
I avoided the usual Hi-Byes and sincerely tried to make more contact with these friends, even those mere acquaintances...
Then, as the crowd grew and the music more happening, it was drink-drink-dance-dance-dance...
And it was really fun... and really wild...
Brian and I originally agreed to stay only a short while, but as it turned out, we left just as the club neared its closing hour!
Thanks goes to Brian for the drive back, but I felt hungry and had supper at a 24hr coffeeshop at my area...
Somehow, even with so much dancing and walking and activity in the evening, I felt even more alive and energized... adrenaline working overtime perhaps?

buffet, buffet, bu fei cai guai...
posted at 12:52 AM

Naval Captain Adrian Tan woke me up very early with a phone call inviting me to join him for breakfast and to discuss the script for "Pulau", the new Mandarin play by Stages in which I had just been cast, and which he will be directing...
As my brains had yet to wake up with only a couple of hours' sleep, I defered it to lunch instead...
Which became a nice buffet lunch at Adrian's friend Benjamin's Teochew Porridge buffet restaurant at Tiong Bahru Plaza...
I basically filled my quota for breakfast and lunch, taking in plenty of the delicious plain porridge and lots of egg omelettes and salty dishes...
Adrian, who was supposed to return to work after lunch, decided to skip it instead, and we adjourned to another cafe for more coffee and to discuss our individual drama plans...
After a brief discussion on "Pulau", which will be further explored once rehearsals kick in, we moved on to talk about his own film and musical ideas, then about my plans for the Mandarin musical I have been writing for ages, "Journey Of A Song"...
It was a great discussion where we exchanged insights and ideas, and at the end of some hours, we both emerged pretty inspired and excited about our own directions and plans... at least that was my case...
I went home to change and get ready for the much-awaited celebration dinner for "Hong Xian (Strings)"'s surprise winnings at the recent Canon-DMH DV Fest 2004...
Which turned out to be an asian buffet dinner at Kuali, attended by Jon, Jann, Yuanbin, some of the crew whose names I had forgotten (sorry!), Terence, Kenneth, Jessica, Janet, Bryan, Siow Wei, and later Jayne... (so many names starting with the letter "J"!!)
Little Bryan provided plenty of fun as usual with his offbeat and precocious antics...
It was great catching up and reuniting the team of our short film, and I got good reviews for my performance as well as my current new blonde look! LOL
Right now, typing this some few hours after the dinner, I am still full to the brim...
Imagine... two buffet meals in one day...
Better go gym tomorrow.........................!

play reading...
posted at 01:32 AM

Didn't go gym after all...
After spending hours on fixing my PC, it died, slowly and tediously...
Met Adrian in the evening around Tiong Bahru area, had dinner, then made our way over to Siglap South Community Club, aka Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts...
Had our first rehearsal with full cast and crew of my new Mandarin play "Pulau", which included Judy Ngo as my co-actor, Adrian, Boon Seng and Grace...
Besides the getting-to-know-each-other first rehearsal, it was also a pretty fun play-reading session, with a lot of playing after the reading...
Even after the rehearsal, we carried on chattering about this project and other miscellaneous stuff over supper at Siglap area...
I am grateful that Grace, the SM of the play, stays VERY near to my place, AND she drives too!
This is so gonna be my first ever controversial play, so it's definitely a must-watch!!
Today, 18th January, was also supposed to be my late father's birthday (but it wasn't his actual birthday... long story...)

budgets, plans, and spring singing...
posted at 01:48 AM

Met up with my trusted insurance agent, Yong Wee, to settle some financial stuff at Prudential Tower, who then gave me some helpful advice and tips about my housing plans...
When Yong Wee went off to meet another client, I had a nice and cheap Nasi Lemak lunch at the Golden Shoe Food Centre nearby...
Arranged to meet Katrina at our favourite TCC Cafe at Circular Road for a drink and chitchat before she returned to work...
Then I walked over to explore the newly renovated basement of Raffles Place MRT Station next to OUB Centre... pretty nice and roomy now...
Finally decided to pop into the Cali gym at Republic Plaza for a good workout... at 3.30pm, it was pretty empty and I could use the machines without fuss...
Went home after that for a quick change and then popped out to meet Gordon for dinner at Lucky Plaza's Rabbit Brand Restaurant...
Gordon had won a pair of tickets to watch Toy Factory's latest offering, "Spring Singing", showcasing the vocal talents and dance moves of 7 local male performers: Hatta, Ridz, Haizad, Zach, Yu-Wen, Luke and John...
It was an unexpectedly good concert, with certain off-moments, but mostly a lot of heartfelt singing...
The funniest part was at the end, when screaming female fans (two of them, both sitting next to me) started shouting for an encore, goaded on by Gordon too...
Jere, who directed the show, suggested Track 5 of the concert, which started the gang singing a very long medley of many many songs all over again...
The horrified look of the tired singers = priceless...
After the concert, we congratulated the cast and production team for their hard work and a nice evening, then Gordon and I went back to Orchard Road and had a drink and some snacks at Spinelli's at The Heeren...
After chatting a while with Gordon, I realised we have many common friends...
Singapore is really sooooo small...

how will i be when i'm sixty four...
posted at 04:10 AM

While typing the last three episodes of my life story religiously onto this blog, I had left the television on with programmes showing reruns of old movies and tv series in the background...
And by "old", I meant really old, as in movies filmed in the sixties or seventies, when veteran HK actors like Tham Peng Mun, Lei Hiong Kum, Lydia Sum, Fung Bo Bo, etc were still young...
And by "young", I meant really young, as in their early twenties or teenaged years...
That was when everyone was dressed in hip retro clothes (the "retro" wasn't even invented yet!), and dancing orbit-cha-cha was hip...
Everyone looked so fresh and gorgeous then, perhaps none of them ever thinking for a second how they will look when they are plump and wrinkly sixty-somethings or eighty-somethings in our day and age, yet still be acting and performing, and shining their talents throughout these years and inspiring newcomers...
Newcomers like me...
I wonder how will I be like when I am like them...
Will I still be performing? Will I be acting as other people's parents or grandparents? Will I have garnered endless supporters and fans, and amassed a fortune for my retirement, yet ever-itching for the limelight?
Will I even be given the opportunities to do all that?
Perhaps, everything will depend on how hard and how much I have been working now...
I wonder...

dharma resonated by day, karma crept in silently by night...

Today marks the 3rd public performance of the OmniArts Troupers, in a Buddhist fund-raising event called "Dharma Resonance-Spiritual Vibes Through Music"...
The Troupers performed a sweet little skit about a crippled guy who falls in love with a mute dancer...
There was dancing and a lovely song called "Thank You For Hearing Me" (originally sung by Sinead O'Connor), and basic sign-language...
The kids were pretty excited and chirpy when The Ark Lounge was packed with well-wishers who gave the performance plenty of appreciative applause...
After the item ended, we had some finger food and an encouraging debrief by Jalyn, then I left them to rest a while at home...
Took a nap and almost didn't wake up in time to meet Justin and his friends, Lawrence, Jay, William, Roy, Kelvin and Trey at Bugis Junction...
We had a so-so but filling steamboat dinner at Beach Road... the humourous chatter was more worthwhile...
Elvin was 2 hours late and by the time he arrived, we were on our way to Lucky Chinatown's K-Box for a bout of KTV singing... Irving joined in later and took over Elvin's place as the latter left for a mahjong session...
There was some good singing going on and even an Anita Mui revival by Lawrence, but by midnight we were all so drained, we didn't even finish the last song...
Walked over to Maxwell Market where Justin met Kevin, his gym trainer, and I bumped into Chris and his friend...
Irving and William left but the rest of us went over to Why Not...
Met Brandon, whom I haven't seen in ages, with his new love, as well as Cheah and more familiar faces...
Cheah shared some Long Island Tea with me, then Trey got us all high with a free-flow of alcohol while we played finger-guessing games...
Things got so high and so hot Kelvin, Justin and I found our shirts removed and dancing so wildly to whatever music was blaring...
To think I wasn't even keen on clubbing tonight, and Juju had sore eyes (he kept trying to hide them with a pair of shades), but we ended up leaving near to closing time...
Justin went over to CS's place while I walked a while till I reached Kampong Bahru, then took a cab home...
I have not felt so high and wild in a long time, but I was still sober and could manage on my own...
I wonder if I would actually be better off being totally drunk and out of this world... at least I could truly get away from it all even if only till dawn...
Anyway, I got home to find my bro Eric returned after staying with my sis, to remain till he finds another place to live...
Since he had made his choice to leave home sometime ago, he knew that he is no longer welcomed...
Too bad, I have already gotten used to living alone...

* fresh new look, fresh new roles...
posted at 01:48 AM

Perhaps it's the recent full moon, perhaps the movement of the stars... somehow, something's different...
I met up with Renee and Gerard of Les Thespians Drama Company for lunch and a discussion on my involvement in their new drama enrichment training programme at Zhenghua Secondary School...
Yan and Ernest joined us shortly after and I was briefed at length on how I was to conduct my specific class from tomorrow onwards...
Time to brush up on my drama theories and exercises...
After knowing more or less what to expect, we went our different ways...
Mine ended up at the 10min barber shop at Orchard Shopping Centre. where I decided to crop my blonde hair short... not only to suit my new role of "school teacher" (albeit teaching drama), but to give myself a fresher, cheerful look...
Then I went over next door to Cali gym for a shower and to freshen myself up further... bumped into several familiar faces as usual...
Also managed to find some time to book tickets to watch the movie "Alfie" with Katrina tomorrow night...
Soon, it was time to meet Adrian and Boon Seng at Tiong Bahru area, where we had a lot of sinful, oily food at the popular food centre, then we headed off to Siglap South CC to meet Judy and Grace for the 2nd rehearsal of Pulau...
It wasn't a smooth-going rehearsal, as basically it wasn't an easy script... spent much time trying and re-trying a specific scene but just couldn't get myself into the groove...
Guess I will need to figure out what's my character all about asap...
After rehearsal, we had supper at the Killiney Kopitiam outlet at Siglap Road, then Grace drove me and Adrian home in her company van...
Back home, Lionel contacted me about casting me in the lead role of his new play "Adultery", and how I can fit that into my quickly building up schedules...
Also received emails from D'rama Arts's Elnie and Dramaplus Arts's Nicholas about casting me in their respective school shows...
I am happy and very grateful to my Angels for taking care of my wishes to be cast in more interesting jobs this year, and I continue to pray that all these will be successful, pay well and promptly, and that I am able to meet all these challenges as best as I could...
My fingers are crossed... tightly...

first class efforts... what's it all about?
posted at 03:51 PM

It's my sis Alain's birthday today...
Woke up extremely early and sent her an sms greeting... that's about all I could do for now...
Another reason for the early rising was that I had arranged to meet Ernest for McDonald's Big Breakfast at Lot 1 Shopping Mall, which I barely made it due to some problems with my cab fare...
Yan joined us soon after and together we headed over to Zhenghua Secondary School to meet the other drama trainers under Les Thespians Drama Company, namely Gerard, Renee, Li Ting, Gillian, and many others...
Found my allocated class, "2N2", and proceeded to traumatise this noisy and boisterous bunch of students with some theatre games and a brief getting-to-know-you session...
By brief, I meant really brief, as the entire session only lasted half an hour...
Took them 5 minutes just to form a circle...
Anyway, I managed to get my points across before everyone streamed out of the classroom on the dot...
After we signed off, Ting and I left by a long journey via the LRT and MRT systems to get to IKEA Building for lunch at their cafe...
Was supposed to meet Martin before his shift, but turned out he wasn't feeling well...
Bumped into Reddish and his friend at the furniture store but he didn't recognise me... Anyway, Ting had an eyeful too...
Bryan called out of the blue... so he'd finally returned from his business trip in KL... time to catch up with him soon...
At IKEA, the two of us shopped around till Ting got some cardboard boxes to store her primary school books, as well as some brown paper which she quickly transformed into a paper bag...
I was contemplating getting some plastic containers to convert into cages for Eeni and Mini, but decided against it...
Later, we headed over to Orchard Cineleisure again, where I arranged to meet Katrina, and where Ting had arranged to meet her own set of friends...
Kat and I bumped into Bernice/Benjamin at the cinemas before we entered the hall to watch "Alfie", starring Jude Law, his current squeeze Sienna Miller, and a bevy of other gorgeous stars...
It was an interesting show about this playboy who never spent much time in his own bed... and how his life and relationships ended up...
Plenty of insights and certainly plenty of predictable closures...
I have never watched the original version starring Michael Caine but Kat and I enjoyed this version...
However, watching Alfie's relationships unfold, I couldn't help but ask myself the same question as quoted from the titular song...
...What's It All About?...
Show ended, Kat and I went over to the food court where we had some soup meals...
Unexpectedly, Juju turned up and joined our table... he was apparently waiting for CS who was at the gym next door...
Perhaps it was just as well they met, as Juju had some questions about getting study loans from the bank where Kat was working...
Bumped into Brian at the entrance of Cineleisure but there wasn't much to say as he was with his friends too...
When both of them left, I went over to HMV for a dose of music and to stroll a bit while digesting all that food I had indulged in...
Wanted to get into an Internet cafe but felt lazy at the same time...
Bumped into Shouchen and had a brief chat with him, then bumped into Benjamin again, before I took off on my bus home...
Got home to find flies surrounding all that delicious snacks on Eeni and Mini's food trays, so I had to do some housekeeping for them...
Somehow or other, Eric managed to apply more damage to my PC, and now I couldn't use it at all...
What you are reading now is all typed on a PC at the Chills Cafe... but back-dated...

shoot for adultery...
posted at 04:18 PM

Met my insurance agent Yong Wee at the coffeeshop opposite The Substation where we had lunch and a chitchat about my financial situation...
Then I got ready for the promotional photo shoot by Adrian for the play, "Adultery", in which Lionel the director wanted me to look nerdy, shy and coy for the camera...
Oh well, did several versions of shy and coy and the first batch came out blurred due to some technical faults...
Lionel took some time to get our rehearsal schedules sorted out with me... no easy feat indeed...
Anyways, after they left, I decided to catch up on some blogging activities and internet surfing over at Chills Cafe nearby...
Adrian didn't make it for rehearsals for Pulau tonight, so Boon Seng took over, and we spent a good time doing break-the-ice kinda theatre games before diving into the scenes...
I had plenty of dialogue in that particular scene, and it took me a while to memorise that...
All in all, it was a fruitful rehearsal...
With the leftover time, we discussed our problematic schedules, and the production team felt they should not give way to my other show's requests, which I felt is pretty petty...
Anyway, will have to sort that out again when I see Lionel, the director for the other show "Adultery"...

I attended the first rehearsal for D'rama Arts's school assembly production, "15mins of Fame", at TAPAC today, meeting other fellow actors like Jeffrey, Fared, Peiling, Moli, Thomas, Emma, and our production manager, Elnie...
It was a local history-based script written by Sean Cheong, but somehow the songs needed work...
After that session, I was perspiring a lot even though I was merely watching the action, so I popped over to Cali gym at Republic Plaza for a quick shower, and bumped into George who was there for a quiet workout...
A Cali gym counter staff, Sebastian, explained while I was there that they were giving out to 8 members a privileged deal to sign up for their "Infinity Membership Card" which allows members a lifetime membership at all clubs over the world, including the new California Fitness branch to be opening at Bugis in July... all for an extra $120 a month!
I said "No", with regrets...
Feeling fresh from the shower, I headed off to meet Lionel at The Substation's Guiness Theatre where I had my photo portrait taken and I got the script for "Adultery"...
After that I left to keep my appointment with Hee Boon, to whom I was supposed to return a backpack...
We had arranged to meet at the Hui Lau Shan outlet selling Hong Kong desserts but Boon didn't turn up in the end due to some traffic problems...
The staff at the dessert shop got a earful from me for not attending to me throughout the 30mins I spent waiting at their restaurant...
I left Boon's backpack at True Yoga at nearby Pacific Plaza, where he teaches yoga lessons regularly...
At a nearby CD-Rama outlet, I bought a book about the history of local folk music, Xinyao, as well as the new Broadway album by Chris Fei Xiang...
Then it was time to go over to Metta School for another class with the OmniArts Troupers...
Tonight we had a video viewing session of the latest performance at The Ark Lounge, and then enjoyed pizza and drinks and some games before getting down to learn the song item for a Chinese New Year performance...
After the class, most of us had supper at the food centre at Bedok Interchange, then I left to meet Harry at his place to watch some horror show and some Taiwanese programme with Hokkien songs...

meditation and connecting back to true source...
posted at 10:53 PM

Woke up early this morning and enjoyed a delicious breakfast of Fei Fei Wanton Noodles around Joo Chiat area...
Passing by the Kallang area on the bus home, suddenly a wave of emotions came over me and I started weeping quietly...
The bus passed a long stream of patient folks queuing up to buy "bah kwa" at Chinatown, not realising that my Cousin Meiling was among them until she told me so later when she came over to meet me and my bro for lunch...
Back home, I fed Eeni and Mini with milk-soaked raisin bread, which soon attracted a puff of tiny fruitflies... gotta change their bedding and clean their homes soon...
I then arranged to meet Katrina to go to Umesh's new shop at Stanley Street together...
The shop is a peaceful and energised healing centre named "Shivshakti Healing and Consultancy" and there Umesh was with Sushila and Chin Ling...
Veena joined us later, then brought us over to another holistic centre nearby called "Sanctum", where she was to conduct a meditation session to connect with the "Pleiadean System"...
Somewhere along the way, Umesh felt something amiss and back at "Shivshakti", we did a brief meditation session to connect ourselves to the True Source for protection and recharging our energies...
At Umesh's shop, I found something that Liting might like for her birthday present...
She'll have to wait and see...
After the energising afternoon, Kat and I had a full dinner at Swee Kee (Ka Soh) Restaurant, then decided to walk to Raffles Place...
I sent her off at City Hall Station, while I ended up typing this down at Chills Cafe, bumping into Peter Ang at the same time...
