a de-lovely day... posted at 01:08 AM Did a couple of Mandarin VOs again for the Singapore Idols... Finals as well as The Phenomenon... Now waiting patiently for the paycheck... ![]() The 3rd performance of The Magic Paintbrush went really well and everyone's energies were good and except for a few miscues here and there, it was good... After the show, I took off for NUH and found my 3rd Uncle Ngin Nie with my dad... had an interesting man-to-man chat with my uncle while my dad went to the gents, and revived more long lost family memories... Mostly to do with my dad's terrible gambling past and how we survived it through this uncle's sincere and generous aid... Anyway, my dad is in such a groggy and suffering state now that it is hard not to feel sorry and forgive all his past deeds... Everything's happened years ago, and right now I just wish he will get well and be able to enjoy and feel our love and concern... Left the hospital later to meet Justin and Liting at Far East Plaza and had a nice and inexpensive dinner at a common friend's cafe... then head off to Cineleisure and joined Janet and, later, Khee Liang... ... to watch a most poignant, heartwarming and thought-provoking musical movie, De-Lovely, where we re-lived the great American composer Cole Porter's love life and alternative lifestyle... and enjoyed tremendously his talent in music and songs... and especially the lyrics... Of course, Liting had a great laugh at the suggestive song titles such as "You're The Top" and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow", but all of us enjoyed Alanis Morrisette, Robbie Williams and other cameo singers' rendition of Cole Porter hits! It was indeed a de-lightful movie and while Janet and Khee Liang had already made up their minds to buy its DVD, I had also decided to borrow from them when they do! ![]() [ Feeling... * de-lighted * ] [ Listening to... * Cole Porter-De-Lovely * ] |

re-evaluate my views of life through pain... posted at 12:43 AM I spent the whole morning waking up slowly and lying in bed reading chapters of Agatha Christie's A Murder Is Announced, a book that I've finished a couple of times yet could still intrigue me with its clever writings and plot twists... There was this woman character in the book whose life had been hampered by illness, whose husband and only child had died, leaving her to a lonely widowhood, and who had been a hopeless invalid for years... She said... "I know what you're thinking. But I've had all the things that make life worth while - they may have been taken from me - but I have had them. I was pretty and gay (NOTE: as in 'happy'!) as a girl, I married the man I loved, and he never stopped loving me. My child died, but I had him for two precious years. I've had a lot of physical pain - but if you have pain, you know how to enjoy the exquisite pleasure of the times when pain stops. And everyone's been kind to me, always... I'm a lucky woman, really." Makes one want to re-evaluate one's view of life and its obstacles, doesn't it? After an afternoon performance of The Magic Paintbrush, which went well and enjoyed a full house, I popped over to California Fitness gym at Orchard for a quick shower... Guess what? I found not one, not two, but THREE nasty rusty nails poking out dangerously from the cracked benches in the sauna, and immediately got the maintenance guy to fix it before any damage was done... Kinda wonder, with so many guys plonking their rear down on these hot seats at any given time of the day, how can this incident be allowed to happen?!! Bumped into David L. on the way out and had dinner with him at Cineleisure's foodcourt (didn't even realise it had already re-opened!)... had a great chat about nuances in acting on stage and TV... Then it's off to NUH to see how my dad's faring... which is not too bad, according to his gesticulations and the nurses' remarks... he's obviously still in pain and still refuses to take the morphine painkiller... but I think he is controlling it better now... at least I hope so... For more than an hour, I just sat there quietly while my dad sleeps, and did a quick pen sketch of him in the notebook I gave him to write his thoughts... I also had a long sms chat with my sister, who's supposed to visit dad but hasn't done so for the past two days due to her own fever and exhaustion... I know many of my dear friends have been praying for my dad, and right now I can only offer my eternal gratitude, love and blessings in return... whatever will happen in three months... posted at 09:07 AM Dunno whether the following is good or bad news... Just heard from my sister that my dad is finally slated for transfer from NUH to Dover Park Hospice next Tuesday, 30th Nov 04, where he can continue to receive constant care and support... Then I heard that the hospice only accepts patients who has less than 3 months in them... We have two shows for The Magic Paintbrush today... both went well except once while waiting for my entrance, I felt someone (or something) tugging my puppet's string in the darkness, but there really wasn't anyone near me then!! Gave me the shivers man... Also received some last minute calls to inform me that I am needed for more voiceover work, as well as my scene for the HK-Sg movie, "One Last Dance" late today, which meant I need to get my haircut immediately so I can look the part of a rookie cop... So in between shows, I rushed over to the studio to record the trailer for the Sunday Blockbuster Movie, "Evolution", as well as more of "Singapore Idols"... Almost didn't make it back to the theatre in time! Phew!! Will try to plan my schedule better with more breaks in between... [ Feeling... * rushed * ] |

阿查之舞 (one last dance)... posted at 02:28 PM Reporting at 12.30am at the film location of "阿查之舞 (One Last Dance)", the new HK-Sg Raintree movie, I found an army of crew stationed in various tents surrounding an old antiques shop... these outdoor up-in-5-minutes tentage housed our wardrobe, make-up unit, food, logistics, crew and especially the director, Max Makowski, in a form of make-shift studio... I was only involved in one scene in the movie, playing an inexperienced cop trying to interogate a gangster (in Cantonese, no less!), but got to act with screen veteran Tilung (Captain) and TV actors Wu Kaishen (Ah Wong) and Zzen Chang (fellow Rookie Cop)... See some of my photos taken during the shoot at: Gallery - My Shows This scene might finally only appear for a few minutes on screen, but it took us almost 5 hours to shoot... there were so many different angles and shots in such a cramped space, but eventually we wrapped closed to 7am... Really pity the middle-aged extra playing the dead body covered in a blanket and blood for so many hours... at one point we weren't sure if he was really concussed... Although the initial fun wore off after the first hour of waiting, I really learned quite a fair bit during this shoot, especially from Lung-gor and Kaishen... now I just can't wait to sink my teeth in my own leading role in a new full-length movie production!!! ![]() [ Feeling... * working * ] |

the edge of reason... posted at 04:35 AM I arrived just 10 minutes before the afternoon show of "Magic P" started, and although I was fully ready to perform on the dot, it sure didn't feel good to be late... I have myself to blame, really... after all, I took on so many tasks and projects and squeezed myself so dry in my time that things are beginning to overlap each other... obviously, it's time to have yet another break... My siblings and my two little nieces, as well as my friends from "24 Pieties" and "The Letter", came to watch our night performance. Not sure about the adults, but the kids definitely enjoyed themselves! ![]() After the show, "The Letter" gang and I picked up Juju and Law at Borders and had an embarrassing bus ride to Chinatown (embarrassing because of all that loud cheers and laughter from some of the happy folks amongst us, and their wild waving to random pedestrians)... Whilst pretending I don't know these boisterous kids, I finally finished reading the last few chapters of "A Murder Is Announced"... such a wonderfully written murder mystery and a detailed set of characters... Later, went with Juju to GV Tiong Bahru to catch "Bridget Jones-The Edge of Reason", which was absolutely fun and hilarious... we almost died laughing especially at the unexpected twist towards the end... This movie is just as entertaining as the first, and doesn't deserve the low rating that 8-Days magazine gave...Anyway, the show reminded me just how fun being in love can be, and I can't deny I do miss being in love again... but for now, I guess I will just go on and *like*... brainstorming retreat... posted at 11:57 PM Attended ASA's committee brainstorming retreat at Oasis Holistic Centre this morning and was assigned some tasks pertaining to the official website, which really needs urgent attention... Good thing I will have more free time after middle of next week... There is only one "Magic Paintbrush" show this afternoon, and friends who came to watch said they had an enjoyable time! ![]() By the time this show ended, I am already feeling like I had been carrying a ton on my shoulders... felt so tired and worse for wear... After returning my almost overdue library books, I popped into Cali gym at Orchard and took a shower and relaxed myself at the steam room and sauna... Could really feel the negative energies evaporating and flowing out of my body, and by the time I was done, my batteries were sufficiently recharged... I could really really do with a proper spa retreat... and go somewhere far far away with someone nice... how about London again later next year... Hey, wait for me in autumn... ![]() [ Feeling... * exhausted * ] |

vote for \"红线 (Strings)\" short film!!! posted at 12:13 PM Good news and not so good news on the Canon-DMH Digital Video Festival 2004... The latter is for "The Letter", which sadly wasn't selected for the finals... still, we have done a terrific job! Well, perhaps 15mins doesn't do much justice to "The Letter"... anyway, I'll like to think we are the 16th on the list... Incidentally, this film captured my very first screen kiss... with Lawrence Wong!! What's not shown is my very second screen kiss immediately after... with Liew Liting!! ![]() The good news is that my other short film project "红线 (Strings)" got through to the finals! This is the psychological thriller film written by Jann Chong (producer) and Jon Lim (director) in which I played the role of Kim... I've just uploaded onto the Gallery page a couple of photos taken on set of this film, see Strings Photos... Incidentally, this film also captured my very first time smoking a cigarette!! Details and the actual movie clip (needs Real Player) can be viewed here: http://www.canon.com.sg/dvfest/bestfilm/film10.html In this page, please also vote for us! You have only ONE vote, unlike Singapore Idols, and you stand to win prizes too! ![]() Hope something does come out of all the hard work I've put in... that we've all put in!! Last but not least, there will be a screening of all 15 short films for only $5 today (Monday) at 4.15pm at the Digital Media Hub near Bugis MRT and Raffles Hospital... Do come along if you have the time! Incidentally again... by some warped casting concidence, "I" was the cause of suicide jumpings in both "The Letter" and "红线"... ![]() [ Feeling... * creative * ] |
